The Winnipeg Jets’ season has come to an end. The Jets were eliminated from the playoffs by the Stars in Game 6 of the second round.
After winning the President’s Trophy as the best team in the regular season, the Jets went into the playoffs as one of the favourites.
A hard-fought series in the first round against the St. Louis Blues ended with an incredible come-from-behind victory, leading to their second-round matchup against Dallas.
Winnipeg ultimately fell to Dallas, struggling to play away from home. In both series, the Jets lost every game they played away from home.
As for the game, it was set to be an emotional one, as the Jets were looking to keep their season alive for a second straight game, and because of the tragic news that was announced earlier in the day, when Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff said that Brad Scheifele died overnight.
Hours after finding out his dad had suddenly passed, Mark Scheifele opened the scoring for the Jets in Game 6.
Scheifele’s goal came as he put a rebound past Jake Oettinger on a delayed power play.

Sam Steel would level it a few minutes later, blasting a slapshot over Connor Hellebuyck’s shoulder, making it 1-1.
The game was locked 1-1 and headed to overtime, however, the Stars were given the advantage as Scheifele was called for a soft trip to end the third.
In overtime, Adam Lowry would also take a penalty, and the Stars wouldn’t falter a second time, as the puck popped free for Thomas Harley, who walked in from the blue line and ripped a low shot past Hellebuyck, ending the series.

Dallas will move on to play the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Final. Both teams met in the third round last year, and the Oilers were victorious in that series.
