The body of a second boater who was reported missing on Lake Manitoba earlier this month was found Wednesday afternoon along the shoreline.
Central Plains RCMP say the man was identified as the 41-year-old who went missing May 8.
Both he and a 22-year-old man from Sandy Bay First Nation launched a boat from behind the water treatment plant in the community that day.
Officials were told the boat suffered a malfunction. A bystander on the beach saw both men in the water trying to swim towards shore. Neither was wearing life jackets, police say.
Authorities add high winds preventing first responders from launching their own boat.
The 22-year-old’s body was recovered on shore the following morning.
Central Plains RCMP continue to investigate.
