Late Friday afternoon, Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew confirmed the arrival of a second family from Gaza, brought to the province to receive urgent medical care.
“We have the ability to help here in Manitoba, and so we are doing so,” said Kinew.
The government had previously welcomed an 11-year-old Palestinian boy in January who required medical treatment unavailable due to the Israel-Hamas war.
Kinew did not provide many details about the new child’s age or condition, other than confirming they are of kindergarten age and traveled with their mother, grandmother, and two other siblings.
“While we may not be able to bring about the end to the suffering that we would all want to see, we are able to help a few kids, and I think that’s something we can all be very supportive of,” said Premier Kinew.
