Arrest made in South Point Douglas homicide investigation

Winnipeg police have charged a 24-year-old man in connection with a homicide investigation in South Point Douglas.

Kerry Eastman, 44, died in hospital Sunday after being found in critical condition on Waterfront Drive with “injuries consistent with being assaulted” around 1:48 a.m.

Eastman was a member of Sandy Bay First Nation who was living in Winnipeg.

The Winnipeg homicide unit identified a suspect and arrested him Monday near McGregor Street and Bannerman Avenue.

Wyatt Darius Prince has been charged with second-degree murder. He was detained in custody.
