Winnipeg police say a 16-year-old boy is facing charges after allegedly stabbing a man Tuesday night.
WPS says around 10:30 p.m. on Apr. 29, officers responded to a commercial business along St. Mary’s Road after receiving a report of a stabbing.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 38-year-old man suffering from upper body injuries consistent with being stabbed.
The man was taken to hospital by paramedics in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable.
Through initial stages of an investigation, police learned that the man was operating as a food delivery driver and was sitting in his vehicle when someone attempted to enter the rear door. A confrontation then occurred, which resulted in the man being stabbed with a large folding knife.
Police were able to find a 16-year-old boy in the area that reportedly matched the suspect’s description, and he was taken into custody. Officers searched the teen, at which point they found and seized a folding knife.
The 16-year-old is facing charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.
