Machete assault in Winnipeg leaves two teenagers in hospital with serious injuries

At approximately 3:30 am on Friday, Winnipeg police responded to the 700 block of Alverstone Street for the report of an assault with a machete.

Officers located two injured individuals, and provided emergency medical care while waiting for paramedics to arrive.

A 15-year-old female victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition, and an 18-year-old male victim was transported in unstable condition.

Both victims were later upgraded to stable condition despite their serious injuries.

The major crimes unit has taken over the investigation, and investigators believe suspects assaulted the victims before fleeing on foot.

Anyone with information or video surveillance of the area is asked to contact major crimes or crime stoppers.
