Winnipeg man charged after man and dog stabbed in Templeton-Sinclair

Winnipeg police say a 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with the stabbing of a man and a dog Tuesday night.

WPS says around 11:35 p.m. on Apr. 15, officers responded to a home Winestock Place and Swailes Avenue after receiving a report that a man was injured at the caller’s door.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 23-year-old man suffering from upper-body injuries consistent with a stabbing. He was taken to a hospital in unstable condition before being upgraded to stable.

Prior to being taken to the hospital, the man reportedly told officers that he had been assaulted by his roommate in their home near Blackthorne Bay and Swailes Avenue.

Just after midnight, officers attended the home in question and found a 29-year-old man who was suffering from self-inflicted injuries, and was taken into custody and to a hospital in unstable condition before being upgraded to stable.

Police also note that a dog was found inside the home, also suffering from stab wounds. The dog was taken to an animal hospital where it was treated.

Since, 29-year-old Dayvell Kakakaway has been charged with aggravated assault, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, and possession of a weapon.
