Charges laid in alleged Winnipeg West End dishwasher theft

Winnipeg police say a man is facing charges after two suspects were spotted in the process of allegedly stealing a dishwasher from a West End home early Tuesday morning.

The Winnipeg Police Service says officers saw the two suspects leaving a home on Victor Street and Sargent Avenue after 3 a.m.

The suspects fled, authorities say, and one of them was later tracked by a police helicopter.

Winnipeg police say a man was taken into custody around 3:10 a.m. Officers allegedly seized break-in instruments, a pocketknife, ammunition, and what police believe were fentanyl and methamphetamine.

A 23-year-old Winnipeg man is facing multiple charges, including breaking and entering, possession of a weapon and resisting a peace officer. He was detained in custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
