Hit-and-run driver was City of Winnipeg employee, police say

Police allege the driver involved in a hit and run that seriously injured a 25-year-old woman last month was a City of Winnipeg employee.

The Winnipeg Police Service says the man turned himself in to police headquarters on Wednesday – two-and-a-half weeks after the March 15 collision on Osborne Street and Mulvey Avenue East that sent a 25-year-old woman to hospital “for some time.”

WPS investigators say the man was driving a panel van registered to the City of Winnipeg at the time of the collision.

The driver is facing multiple charges, including driving carelessly causing life-threatening injury. He was released on an appearance notice.
