Nine people were taken to hospital in unstable condition following a carbon monoxide incident at a home on Winnipeg’s Sharron Bay on Tuesday morning.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to the home around 9:30 a.m. Paramedics arrived and their carbon monoxide alarms showed readings of 300 parts per million. Additional WFPS units were then called to the scene.
Firefighters ventilated the home as paramedics transported the nine people to hospital.
Carbon monoxide, which is odourless, can lead to health concerns following prolonged exposure. At 300 ppm, symptoms can include nausea, dizziness and loss of consciousness.
Manitoba Hydro is investigating the cause of the carbon monoxide.
