Teen, adult facing charges following convenience store assault

Winnipeg police say a 15-year-old and a 20-year-old are facing charges following an alleged assault Friday evening.

WPS says around 9:35 p.m. on Mar. 7, officers responded to a report that a man had been assaulted at a convenience store along Dale Boulevard.

When the officers arrived on scene, they found a 36-year-old suffering from serious upper-body injuries as a result of being stabbed.

The officers provided medical care until paramedics arrived and took him to hospital in stable condition. After arriving at the hospital, the man reportedly had surgery.

Around 10:20 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle believed to be involved and took four people into custody. During a search of the vehicle, they were able to find and seize an air pistol and a machete that were believed to be used in the assault.

Police say a 15-year-old is facing seven charges, including aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, failing to comply with a sentence, and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.

Additionally, a 20-year-old from Garson, Manitoba, is also facing two charges of possession of a weapon.
