Winnipeg man charged after arranging to sexually assault minor in the U.S.

Winnipeg police say a 46-year-old has been charged with child pornography in connection to an investigation involving police in the United States.

WPS says in February, their Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) was notified by the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC) that an online undercover police officer from a United States law enforcement agency was involved in an online chat with a man from Winnipeg.

It is believed in the chat, that the two briefly discussed the sexual abuse of children. The conversation also claimed that he knew of a mother that allowed for the sexual abuse of her 10-year-old daughter, which reportedly led to wanting to be put in contact with the mother.

From there, arrangements were made for the Winnipegger to travel to the U.S., for the purpose of sexually assaulting the child.

Following this, WPS executed a search warrant at the man’s home on Mar. 6, and took him into custody.

Police has charged 46-year-old Adam Joseph Leszkovics with making child pornography for the purpose of publication, communicating to make an agreement or arrangement to commit a sexual offence against a child, accessing child pornography, and possession of child pornography.

Leszkovics has since been released on a release order mandated by the Criminal Code.
