Fire in vacant two-storey residential building in Winnipeg

Just after 12 p.m. on Sunday, the Winnipeg fire paramedic service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two-storey residential building in the 300 block of Garlies Street.

Firefighters declared the fire under control by 12:50 p.m. There were no reported injuries, and no damage estimates are available yet. The cause of the fire is under investigation

The WFPS is reminding the public that if you see someone entering a vacant building call 911 immediately, as fires in vacant buildings have been an issue this winter. You can also call 311 to report breached doors and windows even if you don’t see someone actively entering the building.
