It was a strange yet wonderful day in Winnipeg, as temperatures were above zero for the first time in weeks, and at the final day of Festival Du Voyageur, people have come out in droves to shed some layers, and enjoy the weather.
“Yeah, its so nice to see families out here today, we have a full park again and shows going on in every tent, and its really awesome to see everyone enjoying our playground as well,” said Breanne Lavallee-Heckert, executive director, Festival Du Voyageur.
“I was at a festival last week and it was so cold and its just torture, its so hard, but then nice days like this happen and its just awesome,” said one festival goer.
“Oh, it feels really great, its so nice to get outside, get some fresh air, hear the music, get some food, its been really great,” said another.
Meanwhile down at the forks, it was more of the same, as families of all sorts were stepping out of hibernation to enjoy the mild temperatures.
“Its great, wonderful, get the kids out, get the energy out, enjoy the ice, they’re loving it,” said a local.
Winnipeggers will be able to bask in the warmer weather for a little while longer, as it’s supposed to hover around zero for the next few days.
