Three people were hospitalized in an early-morning fire Monday at a home on Sharp Boulevard.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service says the fire may have been caused by a failure in a lithium-ion battery or charger.
One person was taken to hospital in unstable condition while the other two were in stable condition. A cat and dog were rescued from the home.
WFPS crews were called around 2:26 a.m. and arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the house.
Two occupants had evacuated prior to crews arriving. A third person was still in the home, and firefighters brought them out.
The fire was declared under control by 2:59 a.m.
On Sunday evening, firefighters were called to put out a small fire at a home on Machray Avenue that crews believe was started by a child using a lighter.
Also Sunday, firefighters put out a blaze in a suite of a seven-storey high-rise on Dufferin Avenue.
