Winnipeg police say an 18-year-old is facing a charge after being caught driving a stolen vehicle Saturday morning.
WPS says a patrolling Canine Unit noticed a 2010 Acura MDX, which had been reported stolen on Thursday, being driven along McDermot Avenue and Arlington Street at around 1:50 a.m.
After spotting the vehicle, the Canine Unit pursued the stolen vehicle as it sped south down Arlington Street before it hit a light standard.
Following this, police say the vehicle rammed into the police vehicle before continuing to flee at high speeds. This, however, lasted for a short time, as the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a building near Notre Dame Avenue and Albert Street.
After a short foot chase, police were able to take the driver of the vehicle into custody.
WPS says the 18-year-old suspect is facing possession of property obtained by a crime charge, and police note that he had four warrants for failing to comply with a sentence.
