3 porch pirates facing charges after thefts in Winnipeg’s Transcona neighbourhood

Winnipeg police say three people are facing charges following a string of package robberies dating back to August 2024.

WPS says in November, they received information from several people claiming they had packages stolen from their homes in the Transcona area.

Through an investigation, police learned that the thefts dated back to August 16 and had been carried out by three different people. In addition to the thefts happening at homes, police also found that several happened at retail locations.

Police also learned about a “problem residence” along Larche Crescent, which was shut down. It is believed that the suspects visited the home frequently.

WPS says officers were able to identify all three individuals and were able to take them into custody at various points during their investigation.

Since, 35-year-old Melissa Marie Nolette has been charged with several counts of theft under $5,000, and failing to attend court.

Additionally, 47-year-old Kevin Jay Worme has been charged with theft under $5,000. Police add an unnamed 35-year-old woman is also facing a charge of theft under $5,000.

Investigators do believe there may be more victims of package thefts and are encouraging anyone who might be to report their incident.
