Winnipeg man charged after waving gun while riding bike

Winnipeg police says a 38-year-old man has been charged in connection to a firearms incident Sunday evening in the Centennial neighbourhood.

WPS says around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 26, police responded to a report that a man was riding an e-bike and was pointing a gun at people near Isabel Street and Elgin Avenue.

When officers arrived to the area, they were able to find a man matching a description that was provided, at the back of a house along Elgin Avenue, and he was taken into custody.

Following a search of the man and the nearby area, officers were able to find and seize a loaded Kriss Vector .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle with a magazine containing a round of ammunition. Additionally, officers also found around five grams of crack cocaine and around $2,700 in cash.

Since, 38-year-old Allan Ross Thaxter has been charged with five charges including possession of a firearm, drugs and proceeds obtained by a crime.
