Winnipeg Police responded to a reported commercial robbery at a business in the 1500 block of Logan Avenue, on Friday.
At approximately 10:25 p.m., officers from the Central District General Patrol, supported by K-9 and the Tactical Support Team (TST), arrived at the scene where a 29-year-old woman had stolen merchandise from the store.
When a 23-year-old employee confronted the suspect and asked her to return the stolen items, she took out a handgun and threatened him. No shots were fired and the victim was unharmed.
The suspect fled the scene, but K-9 officers quickly tracked her to the 300 block of Blake Street.
Surveillance footage from the business confirmed the suspect’s identity, and she was recognized by officers as someone known to them.
At approximately 11:19 p.m., the woman was located and taken into custody without further incident.
During her arrest, a firearm was recovered, and Sabrina Bignell, of Winnipeg, was charged with several offenses, including robbery, possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and failing to comply with a release order.
She remains in custody pending further proceedings.
