Suspect at large after armed robbery of downtown Winnipeg business

Shortly after 10 pm on Thursday, Winnipeg police received reports of a commercial robbery in the 600 block of Notre Dame Avenue.

An investigation determined that the day prior at 5:13 pm, an adult male was caught trying to conceal stolen items in a backpack and leave without paying. Two victims attempted to confront the suspect, asking him to return the items, but the suspect took out a knife and lunged at the two victims, eventually escaping with the stolen merchandise.

The victims were not injured.

Police are now actively looking for a male in his 20’s, approximately 5 foot 8 with a slim build. He was last seen wearing black glasses, a black and white hat, a black parka, blue jeans, a black hoodie and a grey backpack.
