Winnipeg police say a woman has been charged following an attempted theft at a retail business on Sunday in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West.
Authorities say a woman tried to leave the business without paying for her merchandise. When confronted by a 25-year-old employee, police allege she physically assaulted the man with a small edged weapon.
The victim sustained minor upper body injuries but did not require medical attention. No other injuries were reported.
Officials say upon arrival they were able to locate the suspect and took her into custody without incident.
The suspect and victim were not previously known to one another, police add.
