33-year-old facing charges after stabbing sends man to hospital

Winnipeg police says a 42-year-old man is in hospital and a 33-year-old is facing charges after a stabbing incident on Saturday.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, officers responded to a report of a stabbing near Princess Street and Henry Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 42-year-old man suffering from serious upper-body injuries and provided medical care before paramedics could arrive.

The man was taken to hospital in unstable condition, before being upgraded to stable.

Police note a man believed to be involved in the incident was still at the scene and was taken into custody.

Through an investigation, it was learned that the pair were in a verbal argument which reportedly escalated into a physical assault. It was at this time, an edged weapon was taken out, and used.

WPS says the 33-year-old is facing an assault with a weapon charge.
