A milestone week paid off in more than one way for Connor Hellebuyck.

The Winnipeg Jets superstar goalie, Carolina Hurricanes centre Jordan Staal and Detroit Red Wings right winger Patrick Kane were named the three stars of the week by the NHL on Monday.

Hellebuyck became the third-fastest goaltender in NHL history to win 300 games, getting there after going 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average, .960 save percentage and one shutout last week.

His efforts helped the Jets (29-12-3, 61 points) pad their lead atop the Central Division. He made 26 saves for his 300th career victory in a 5-2 win over Nashville on Jan. 7.

Hellebuyck reached 300 wins in 538 games, the third-fastest in history, behind only Andrei Vasilevskiy (who did it in 490 games) and Jacques Plante (521 games).

The veteran Staal jumped in the wayback machine and led the league with five goals and two assists for seven points in four games to power the Hurricanes (26-15-3, 55 points) to a 2-1-1 week.

Another veteran enjoying a good week was Kane, who scored two goals and added four assists in three games to lift the Red Wings (20-18-4, 44 points) to a perfect 3-0 week and their seventh straight win. The Wings are now within two points of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
