Man charged after breaking into and sleeping inside vehicle: WPS
Winnipeg police say a 31-year-old man has been charged after being caught sleeping inside a vehicle they allegedly broke into Friday.
The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) says officers responded to a report of an armed man inside a parked vehicle near Home Street and Notre Dame Avenue at around 3 p.m. on Jan. 10.
The owner returned to their vehicle when they noticed a broken window and a man sleeping inside with an edged weapon and a gun, police say.

When officers arrived at the scene, they contained the vehicle, and then safely removed and took the man into custody.
At the time, officers were able to find and seize an imitation air pistol and a machete.
Since, 31-year-old Maurice Kelly Ryan Thomas has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon, three counts of possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to a prohibition order, mischief under $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order, and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
