6 people facing charges in Winnipeg drug bust

Winnipeg police seized multiple weapons, including a crossbow and an “energy weapon,” and charged six people in connection to a drug investigation.

WPS says officers executed two search warrants at two different homes on Dec. 31 — one near Ross Avenue and Isabel Street, the other near Elgin Avenue and Isabel Street.

During the searches, police were able to find and seize the following items:

  • Approximately $8,000 worth of crack cocaine
  • Approximately $7,500 in Canadian currency
  • Loaded Ruger 9mm handgun
  • Loaded improvised firing device
  • 2 replica handguns
  • Conducted Energy Weapon (taser-style)
  • Crossbow
  • Body Armour
  • Drug packaging materials

The six people taken into custody and face drug trafficking and weapons-related offences include two men aged 30 and 33, and a 33-year-old woman. They have not been named at this time.

The other three, 24-year-old Brent Scott McCaan, 28-year-old Dillion Riley Barker, and 38-year-old Allan Toss Thaxter, have been charged with 20 combined charges including possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
