Police seize loaded 3D-printed gun from teen at Winnipeg mall: WPS

Winnipeg police say a 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection to a retail theft on Saturday afternoon.

WPS says around 2:56 p.m., officers who were assigned to Safe Shop duties at Kildonan Place Mall were asked to help security remove several teens who were causing a disturbance.

While removing the teens, officers noticed “numerous irregular shapes from one of the male’s clothing, prompting a search for officer safety.”

During the search, officers found and seized a loaded 3D-printed 9mm Glck-style handgun with a polymer slide and a magazine with three rounds of ammunition.

The teen was taken into custody and was later charged with possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, carrying a concealed weapon, and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.

WPS also notes that officers will have an increased presence in Winnipeg’s busiest shopping areas through the Safe Shop retail theft initiative.
