Winnipeg police: 3 teens sexually assaulted; 2 men charged

By News Staff

Winnipeg police say two men are facing charges after three teenage girls were lured – in one instance on social media – and sexually assaulted.

The Winnipeg Police Service says it began investigating in January 2024.

In the first week of January, police say a 32-year-old man contacted a teenage girl, arranged to meet her, and drove her to a Winnipeg home, where she was sexually assaulted.

On Jan. 9, WPS says the same man – this time accompanied by a 30-year-old man – met the same victim and brought her to a hotel on Portage Avenue. Authorities say the girl was sexually assaulted by both men.

On May 15, 30-year-old Ousama Alkhattab turned himself in to police. He has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

On Aug. 28, police allege the 32-year-old met two girls in their mid-teens – one of whom he had befriended on social media – and drove them to a downtown address. There, police say they were sexually assaulted by two yet-to-be identified men. The assaults were reported to police.

On Dec. 12, Winnipeg police arrested 32-year-old Abdelraheem Khatab. He was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, luring a person under the age of 16 by means of telecommunications, and supplying liquor to a minor.

Both accused were released on a court order prohibiting contact with individuals under 18.

The sex crimes unit is investigating.
