Man charged in 2 attempted convenience store robberies

Winnipeg police say a 36-year-old man has been charged in connection to two attempted robberies at convenience stores Saturday night.

WPS says officers responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store along Lorette Avenue around 7:55 p.m.

Officers attended the store and were told a man had robbed it at knifepoint before fleeing on foot with around $210.

With help from a customer who was in the store at the time, police were able to find the man near Grant Avenue and Stafford Street and take him into custody.

After the man was in custody, police were able to seize a knife.

Through an investigation, police were able to determine that the man had gone to a different convenience store along Corydon, and also allegedly stole $200 from it, also at knifepoint.

36-year-old Cullen Sanders has since been charged with two counts of robbery and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
