A traffic stop results in a $35,000 drug bust

A traffic stop conducted on the 800 block of Taylor Avenue on the evening of December 7, resulted in the arrest of three individuals.

During the stop, the driver falsely identified himself, so the officers removed him from the vehicle to determine positive identification.

The other two occupants confirmed to police that there were weapons present in the vehicle. Items found during a search included multiple guns and ammunition. The officers also found 160 pills of hydromorphone and approximately 335 grams of cocaine, their total street value is estimated to be over $35,000, according to Winnipeg police.

Two men, a 19-year-old and a 26-year-old, are now facing multiple charges including two counts of possession of a weapon and Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, but were released on undertakings mandated by the criminal code.

42-year-old Henry Joseph Bourassa is facing similar charges in addition to identity fraud. He is now in police custody.
