Ontario First Nation woman killed in Winnipeg apartment: police

Police say a 23-year-old woman is in custody in connection with the death of an Ontario First Nation woman who was living in Winnipeg.

Breanna George, 21, a member of Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing / Big Island First Nation, was found injured at an apartment on Furby Street in the city’s West Broadway neighbourhood Monday evening.

She was taken to hospital in critical condition, where she died of her injuries.

A suspect was inside the suite when officers arrived.

Savannah Nashacappo-Badger, 23, was charged with second-degree murder and robbery and detained in custody. None of the charges have been proven in court.
