Suspect wanted for manslaughter in 33-year-old Peguis man’s death taken into custody

Winnipeg police says a 31-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection to the death of Shawn Douglas Thomas.

WPS says on Thursday, officers took 31-year-old Karl Earl Settee into custody near Higgins Avenue and King Street, a week after they issued an arrest warrant.

Thomas, a member of Peguis First Nation, was found unresponsive by police on Oct. 18 on College Avenue.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have not confirmed if charges have been laid at this time.
