Zoo Lights returns to light up winter season at Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park and Zoo

It’s becoming a sure sign of the season in Winnipeg.

Zoo Lights is back for another year and is set to provide 35 nights of illumination during the dark winter season, running at the Assiniboine Park and Zoo from Nov. 22 until Jan. 5, 2025.

“Since we launched the event in 2019, Zoo Lights has become a beloved holiday tradition,” said Laura Cabak with the Assiniboine Park Conservancy in a news release.

“It’s a joyful celebration and a wonderful way to bring people together at this special time of year.”

The event, hosted by Red River Co-op, will feature more than 1.5 million lights displayed along a walking loop within the Zoo, spanning two kilometres.

The event is currently looking for volunteers to support Zoo Lights over the course of the 35 days, which will include a Sensory Night on Dec. 11, alongside daily attractions like a DJ booth alongside appearances by Santa Claus until Dec. 23.

Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the Zoo during regular hours and are $17 for general admission, with children under two free of charge.
