Man arrested with improvised firearm during traffic stop in Winnipeg

A 40-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, after police conducted a traffic stop for operating an electric bicycle on the sidewalk.

The incident occurred around 7:55 p.m. near Salter Street and Selkirk Avenue.

During the stop, officers discovered part of what looked like a firearm partially concealed on the man. Upon further investigation, they seized an improvised firearm loaded with a 12-gauge round of ammunition.

Edwin Wilfred Ducharme now faces several charges, including possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition and possession of a firearm.

Ducharme has been taken into custody as authorities continue their investigation.
