Man hit by vehicle after being chased from Main Street business for ‘causing a disturbance’

Winnipeg police say a 19-year-old man was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle on Main Street near Dufferin Avenue on Monday.

The Winnipeg Police Service says the victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition, and later upgraded to stable.

Investigators believe the man was “causing a disturbance” at a nearby business and was chased away by staff around 4:45 p.m.

“The male fled, and at one point, ran across the street and was struck by a motor vehicle travelling southbound,” WPS said in a news release.

Officers arrived to find the man on the ground, being tended to by multiple individuals. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and spoke to investigators, police add.

The investigation is ongoing.
