Despite the weather here in Winnipeg, there’s no raining on the Jets parade to start the season.
The team is off to its best start in franchise history with a 5-0 record and are the only team in the NHL to remain undefeated up to this point.
“If they continue doing the way they’re doing right now, a Stanley Cup shouldn’t be too far off,” said one Winnipegger CityNews spoke to.
Another saying, “Very happy, I’m feeling good and it’s very nice to be a Jets fan.”
Just over two weeks into the season, Jets fans say they’re very excited for what’s ahead. The team kicked off the season on the road with a 6-0 victory against the Edmonton Oilers and followed that with four wins at home against the Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
“Were really excited, I mean starting the season 5-0 it’s what you want really, so there’s good vibes in here right now,” said David Gustafsson, Winnipeg Jets Forward.
Colin Miller, Winnipeg Jets Defenseman added, “Every team’s looking for a good start off the start of the year, so to have this start is great.”
Back on the road for the next three games, head coach Scott Arniel says they’re keeping their focus on what’s ahead.
“It’s one of those things that we have to be good at what we do and be consistent at what we do and we’ve done that here in the last five,” said Scott Arniel, Winnipeg Jets Head Coach.
“I’m more about the next game, the next opponent, and you know critique what you’ve maybe done in the last game or maybe couple, and then use it to get better in practice and then through practice and video, and then move onto the next game because it’s a different opponent each night.”
The Jets look to build off their 5-0 start to the season with a Tuesday night matchup against the St. Louis Blues, then head to Seattle to take on the Kraken Thursday, and will finish their three-game road trip against the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
