Winnipegger looking to inspire next generation with new dance convention

While most kids her age were learning to run, from a young age Winnipeg’s Brynne Abgrall was destined to be a performer. Dancing competitively since the age of four, the art form has been her lifelong passion.

This weekend, the 21-year-old was busy sharing her love with the next generation, with the first form dance convention — a two-day event for dancers between the ages of 8 and 19, aimed at providing guidance on not just technique, but also psychology, nutrition, and conditioning.

“I think it’s really eye-opening for them, gives them a whole new perspective that they get on top of their training at the studio, there is such a growing dance community here. I think this will only continue to expand it,” said Abgrall.

“I love it, always been involved in dance and I’ll love it forever so I’m so happy to be doing this.”

Throughout the weekend, Abgrall says five pro dancers from Los Angeles and Utah guided attendees through a variety of classes.

Providing an unparalleled experience for aspiring dancers. Not lost on dance mom Cara Pasieczka, who was so impressed by the weekend’s programming.

“They are in this studio taking these little tiny pieces, that are stepping stones as they grow as dancers and as human beings, it’s really a fulfilling opportunity,” said Pasieczka.

In total, more than 130 dancers attended this weekend’s convention, a clear indicator to Abgrall of the growing dance talent here in Winnipeg. One she hopes to continue to inspire for years to come.

“Just seeing them radiate throughout the weekend has been so inspiring for me, I want to continue this it has fueled another passion in me. More motivation to keep providing this experience and giving them this unique aspect of dance,” said Abgrall.
