An 18-year-old man finds himself with assault charges after Winnipeg police allege he was swinging a machete around children.

WPS says around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 19, officers responded to a report of a man waving a machete near Ross Avenue and Sherbrook Street. They say he approached a group of children playing in a green space.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 12-year-old, but with no injuries from the incident.

From there, officers were directed to Pacific Avenue where they found the man and a machete.

Since then, 18-year-old Bronxton Strong has been charged with assault with a weapon.
