Selkirk man charged for drug trafficking: Winnipeg police

Police have charged a man from a city northeast of Winnipeg in connection to a drug trafficking investigation.

Officers say they opened a drug trafficking investigation in August, which reportedly involved a firearm.

Through their investigation, police were able to identify a man. At around 8:45 p.m. on Oct. 17, he was found on Main Street near Cathedral Avenue.

However, after being noticed by police, the man reportedly fled before being taken into custody.

While searching the man, police were able to find a loaded Glock handgun.

Since, 28-year-old Shayden Matthew Tavares from Selkirk faces nine charges, including possession of a firearm, resisting a peace officer, and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
