Winnipeg police looking for stabbing suspect

Winnipeg police are looking for a man after a stabbing incident Tuesday afternoon along Dumoulin Street near Tache Avenue.

WPS says officers responded to a report of a stabbing around 4:06 p.m., and upon arriving at the scene, they found a 24-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The officers provided emergency medical care, including applying a chest seal, before the 24-year-old was taken to hospital by paramedics in unstable condition. Police note he has since been upgraded to stable.

Through the initial stages of their investigation, police learned that two men had been walking together at Orange Park near St. Joseph Avenue and Notre Dame Street, when a physical altercation occurred.

The altercation escalated and one of the men was stabbed several times in the upper body. Police were able to find and seize the weapon.

The man police are looking for has been described as around 20 to 25-years-old, roughly 5’5″ with long black hair. At the time he was wearing a dark hoodie and khaki pants.
