Jets fans to see reduced wait times with new security system

True North Sports & Entertainment is implementing a new AI-based security screening system to reduce wait times for guests. Neve Van Pelt reports.

Jets fans can expect a new and improved experience as they enter the Canada Life Centre this season, as True North Sports and Entertainment has introduced a new AI-based security screening system, that will significantly reduce wait times for guests.

“In the wintertime when it gets really cold in that vestibule they won’t have to spend the time standing there being cold, they can just walk right in, come in and enjoy some snacks or go straight to their seats much soon than they have in the past,” said Dawn Haus, SVP of Culture & Guest Experience for True North Sports & Entertainment

“We’ve had some people walk in not even realizing they’ve gone through security, and they walk in and they ask when do I go through security? And were like you’re already through.”

In previous years huge lineups would flood Canada Life Centre, with guests having long wait times upon entry. But this new Frictionless Security system will speed up the process, as guest don’t have to remove all their belongings before walking through.

“With this new system, most people will be able to just walk right through, with standard things in their pockets like their keys, or their cellphones and we will be able to work at alleviating the lineups that people are used to experiencing when they come to games,” explained Haus.

While this new security system is making its debut this season, Haus says it’s proved to be a benefit to guests’ experience in the pre-season.

“Usually about 15 minutes before puck drop the vestibules or the main gates are full of people because that’s when everyone arrives, and we took the video and compared it to the old game and the vestibule was completely clear at the exact same time.”

Fans will get to experience this change on Friday, when the Winnipeg Jets take on the Chicago Blackhawks in their home opener.
