Woman charged after stabbing 2 men on Main Street

Winnipeg police have charged a 41-year-old woman in connection to a pair of stabbings Wednesday evening.

WPS says officers responded to a report of a stabbing along Main Street around 5 p.m.

While on their way to the scene, officers reportedly noticed a woman who matched the description of a suspect provided in the initial report near Main Street and Dufferin Avenue. According to police at the time, she was holding an edged weapon and was taken into custody.

At the scene, officers were approached by a 41-year-old man who informed them that he had been stabbed. A 34-year-old man who had also been stabbed was found nearby by officers.

Both men were provided medical care by the officers before paramedics arrived at the scene and took both to hospital. WPS has confirmed both men are in stable condition.

Through an investigation, WPS learned that the woman had been walking along Main Street when a confrontation occurred with the 34-year-old man. It is believed the confrontation escalated, which led to the stabbing.

From there, the woman fled along Main Street, where it is believed she stabbed the 41-year-old, unprovoked.

Since, 41-year-old Sarah Marie Whitmore has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
