South Winnipeg was full of life Friday for the Bridgwater Businesses Block Party.

The community celebration saw hundreds come out to Centre Street between North Town Road and Cooper’s Town Road in the Bridgwater area, for an exciting event that let residents explore the vibrant community and discover the diverse range of over 60 businesses that have recently opened in the newly developed area.

“We have a very diverse community we have entertainment from Peru, Nigeria, Caribbean, Asia all afternoon,” said Janice Lukes, City Councillor, Waverly West Ward. “People just want to get out and celebrate.”

“There’s a lot of challenges and drama in the world,” she added. “We just want one day of sunshine and partying.”
