Stolen motorcycle catches fire: Winnipeg man arrested

By News Staff

A 35-year-old man from Winnipeg has been arrested after a stolen motorcycle caught fire.

Friday at around 8:15 p.m., police saw a fire at a gas station in the 100 block of Salter Street.

While the suspect was pumping gas, the motorcycle suddenly caught fire. He moved the motorcycle, still in flames, toward a nearby dumpster.

Police called for back-up and arrested the man after he fled in a nearby taxi.

Multiple items were seized in his possession — pills and a weapon.

The man is charged with multiple offences including possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and carrying a concealed weapon.
