Homicide investigation: WPS asks for public assistance on man killed last year

One year has passed since the murder of 39-year-old Sukhdool Singh Gill, and Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) now calling on the community for assistance into the homicide investigation.

“Anyone who knew Gill, including members of the City’s South Asia community, is asked to contact investigators,” they said in a news release on Saturday. “With any information regarding his whereabouts or personal interactions he had prior to his death.”

The man was fatally shot on Sept. 20, 2023 in northwest Winnipeg at a residence in the 200 block of Hazelton Drive.

“Following a medical examination, his death was deemed a homicide,” said police. “The Winnipeg Police Service’s Homicide Unit began an investigation.”

“Any tip,” they added. “Can be helpful.”
