Winnipeg police looking for man who grabbed a child Tuesday

Winnipeg police are looking for a man after a child was confronted during their lunch break on Tuesday.

WPS says on Sept. 10, they received a report that a suspicious man confronted a middle-school-aged child who was walking home just after noon.

Reports indicate the child was walking south along Banning Street and west along Einarson Avenue when they were approached by an unknown man, who then said something and grabbed the child.

A brief struggle occurred and the child was able to break free, run home, and told their parent.

The man has been described as wearing a checkered/plaid shirt, blue jeans, and a blue ski mask. He was last seen heading north near Banning Street and St. Matthews Avenue and possibly crossed through Orioles Park.

Police say the child was not hurt during the incident, and have been in communication with the school.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-3296 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
