Over 10,000 vote in Elmwood-Transcona byelection advanced polls

Over 10,000 people have made their way to the advanced polls for the federal byelection of Elmwood-Transcona in Manitoba.
Advanced polls were available from Friday, Sept. 6 to Monday, Sept. 9. According to Elections Canada, 10,032 people submitted their votes.
There are over 71,800 electors in the riding, with a population of nearly 101,700.
Election day is set for next Monday – Sept.16.

Candidates for the byelection are as follows:
- Sarah Couture – People’s Party of Canada
- Leila Dance – New Democratic Party
- Nicolas Geddert – Green Party of Canada
- Ian MacIntyre – Liberal Party of Canada
- Colin Reynolds – Conservative Party of Canada
- Zbig Strycharz – Canadian Future Party
The election for Elmwood-Transcona comes after Daniel Blaikie stepped down at the end of March to work with Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew. He was first elected in 2015.
Additionally, there is also a byelection in the riding of LaSalle—Émard—Verdun in Quebec on Sept. 16. Over 11,000 people voted in the advance polls.
The LaSalle—Émard—Verdun also holds the largest number of candidates in Canadian federal elections history, with 91.
