Man charged with murder after fatal stabbing in rural Manitoba: RCMP

Manitoba RCMP says a 33-year-old man has been charged with second degree murder in connection to a fatal stabbing in northeastern Manitoba.

Just before midnight on Sept. 2, Mounties in Shamattawa responded to a report of a stabbing at a home in the community.

Officers attended the community’s Nursing Station, where a 35-year-old man had been taken to by paramedics, and had died from his injuries.

On Sept. 4, officers were able to take 33-year-old Michael Mander Redhead into custody and have charged him with second degree murder.

Police believe that Redhead and the man who was fatally stabbed were known to each other prior to the stabbing.

An investigation is ongoing.
