Man charged after stabbing in Winnipeg apartment complex

Winnipeg police say a 27-year-old man has been charged in connection to a stabbing on Wednesday.

WPS says around 5:24 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing at an apartment building on Roblin Boulevard.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 53-year-old man suffering from serious upper-body injuries. He was then taken to hospital by paramedics.

Police say the individual involved in the stabbing incident had fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

Later in the evening, officers were able to find a man matching the suspect’s description near Vialoux Drive, and were able to take him into custody.

While in custody, police found a knife on the man, which is believed to have been the weapon in the stabbing.

Additionally, through an investigation, WPS learned that both men were in a verbal argument in the apartment building, when one pulled out a knife and stabbed the other multiple times.

Since, a 27-year-old who was not named by police, has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, failing to comply with a probation order, and three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
