Man killed in serious assault in West End: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say a 32-year-old man died of his injuries in hospital after a serious assault Tuesday evening in the city’s West End.

The victim was identified as Philip Daniel Lachose, a member of Chemawawin Cree Nation who was living in Winnipeg.

Officers were called to Maryland Avenue near Ellice Avenue for the report of a serious assault around 6:50 p.m. They arrived to find Lachose with serious injuries on the sidewalk, they say.

He was hospitalized in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

Members of the WPS Homicide Unit are investigating.
