2 in unstable condition after Selkirk Avenue apartment building fire

Two people were hospitalized in unstable condition after a fire at a three-storey apartment building in Winnipeg Monday morning.

The WFPS says firefighters were called to Selkirk Avenue near Battery Street around 6:45 am. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the building.

Firefighters rescued one person who was trapped inside their suite.

The blaze was brought under control at 7:13 a.m. The cause remains under investigation.

Earlier Monday, crews were also called to put out a fire at a two-storey home on William Newton Avenue around 4 a.m. The residents managed to flee the home, and no injuries were reported.

It is believed the fire was accidentally caused by an electrical malfunction.

Shortly before 6:30 a.m., firefighters were called to a commercial building on Main Street. The fire was out by 7 a.m. No injuries were reported.
